Dog whisperer Dolito ~ I’ll Miss You

Coffee the Chihuahua was here with his sister. She made this appointment a few years ago and this day finally came.

 

Coffee said, “Your parents take care of me when you go abroad.” The sister nodded and confirmed that.

Coffee said, “I appreciate their effort.”

It was because of her parents that Coffee’s sister could go out without worrying too much.

Coffee said to his sister, “You’ll leave again. I’ll miss you.”

 

Coffee was an old dog already. He said, “Every time you went abroad, I wondered if I could ever see you again.” He was so worried that there might be a day when he was too old to make it till she came back. We all felt sad hearing that.

 

He said to her, “Take care of yourself.”

 

We hope the best for Coffee and his family, and hope that the sister can be there for him when he needs her the most.

 

Dog whisperer Dolito~ Pets talk: Louder

Every morning, a milkman comes to our pet hotel to deliver the milk at about 6:30am.

 

He came as usual this morning, and all the dogs barked at him like crazy. I happened to be there, so I tried to stop them, asking them to stop barking.

 

At this moment, Mow-Mow spoke. (Mow-Mow is the first dog that talks to Miss Dolito. You can see this post to get to know him. He’s old now and rarely talks.)

Mow-Mow said, “Gosh. Leave them alone. They’re just being united to fight their enemy together. Just let them. Cause you’re even louder than they are. It’s so noisy!”

 

What. . . the. . . ?

Dog whisperer Dolito ~ Pets talk: Vegetarian

Da-Ba the Basset Hound was five when he was taken to Miss Dolito. He sat there like it was none of his business. When he finally started talking, Miss Dolito found that he spoke Taiwanese instead of Mandarin. His family nodded and said that they did speak Taiwanese at home, especially the parents.

 

Da-Ba said all of a sudden, “She’s a vegetarian.”Miss Dolito asked them who Da-Ba was referring to. They immediately pointed to their mother; she was the vegetarian Da-Ba was talking about. Da-Ba said, “She wants me to be a vegetarian too. But I don’t want to.”

 

Everybody laughed so hard. They said, “That’s not true! We didn’t ask you to be a vegetarian!” But Da-Ba said, “I am a vegetarian right now. You want me to lose weights and you don’t let me eat meat.”

 

The family explained that they did it because Da-Ba had not been in a good condition. Da-Ba said, “Because you don’t let me eat meat.”

Da-Ba then referred to his big sister, “She’s heavier now. She gained a lot of weights. She needs a diet. I don’t need a diet.” The sister stared at him and said, “Yes you do!”

 

Da-Ba was still talking about the big sister, “She had been away from home for years. I was worried that she was fooling around.” Actually he didn’t need to be worried at all; the sister was only living outside because her school was too far away.

 

Da-Ba continued to talk about her, “She hates it when others nag at her. She’d get annoyed when Mom does that.” (Well, I guess lots of young people feel the same. So here’s the tip to avoid your parents’ nagging at you: Behave yourself.)

Da-Ba lied on the floor and suddenly said, “I want to sleep! It’s my bedtime now.”

The family opened their eyes widely. “What? That’s all? You wanna sleep now? Well. . .okay then. . .”

What could they do anyway?

Dog whisperer Dolito ~ Pets talk: Your Mom Told Me

 

Usually pets can’t talk, or at least can’t talk much, before they’re 1 year old. But nowadays owners and pets are getting closer than before, and more people talk to their pets. So now, some pets can talk very well even when they’re little.

 

Rei-Rei the Maltese, was only four month old when these pictures were taken. He started, “I have another owner.” The girl that held him carefully said, “That should be my mom.” Rei-Rei said, “The other owner is usually home. You’re seldom at home.” The girl lived at home with her mother and Rei-Rei. Her mother would take care of Rei-Rei when she went to school.

 

 

Rei-Rei said to her, “You are a student who doesn’t study.” The girl laughed. She did study. But she did it in her room without Rei-Rei’s witnessing. Then Rei-Rei said, “You sleep a lot. I never wake you up successfully.”

 

Rei-Rei’s owner nodded. She said Rei-Rei often went to her bed and licked her face or pushed her, trying to wake her up, but she was just too tired to get up. Rei-Rei was very confused, “Why do you sleep so much? I don’t understand. I don’t sleep that much.”

 

Well, you would understand if you had to work and study and do a lot of things and get old at the same time.

 

 

Rei-Rei said, “Your mom often gets angry because you spend too much money. She scolds you a lot.” The girl laughed louder this time.

 

There was more. Rei-Rei kept going, “You go out to meet your boyfriend. Your secret boyfriend.” The girl was surprised to hear that. She hadn’t introduced her boyfriend to her mom and Rei-Rei. How did Rei-Rei know that?

 

“Your mom told me.” said Rei-Rei, “Whenever you go out, your mom would say that she thinks you’re meeting your boyfriend.” Who could know more about a girl than the girl’s mother did? Of course her mother knew she was going out with her boyfriend!

Dog whisperer Dolito ~ Pets talk: Stop!

We still get lots of calls and e-mails from people who want to make an appointment with Miss Dolito, to see what their pets have to say to them. Unfortunately free pet consultation has a waiting list that ends in 2026 (so far) and most pets can’t wait that long. So Tien-Yuan Life Care Association makes an agreement with Miss Dolito that she will make some time for those who donate to help stray animals.

 

Wa-Wa the Schnauzer’s owner was one of those people. She couldn’t wait to know what was on her mind. And donating to help those homeless animals was also good for her. It was like killing two birds with one stone, except that no one’s gonna kill any bird.

Wa-Wa barked at us like crazy the second she saw us. That did scare us; thankfully her owner held her tight enough to keep us safe.

 

Wa-Wa said, “I bite! I have bitten a lot of people!” It sounded like a show-off. The owners nodded and confirmed her words. We rarely saw Schnauzers this fierce before.

 

She said, “I hate to go to the salon. Biting the groomer is my favorite thing to do.” then to her mom, “You’re so nice to me. You let me do whatever I want. Thank you!”

She went on talking to the mother, “You do all the housework. They never help you; all they do is take what you give. I hate that. I think you’re poor.”

 

Her mom smiled. They asked Wa-Wa about another sister who was currently in other country. Wa-Wa said, “I don’t want to talk about her. She lie to me. She said she’d be back soon but she didn’t. She fooled me. She doesn’t like me anymore. She’s got a new pet. I’m so mad!”

 

The mother and the sister had to explained to Wa-Wa that the little sister didn’t lie to her, that she would be back in a week. Well, but she did have a cat there. No wonder Wa-Wa got angry.

Wa-Wa said, “I love Mom the most.” then to the sister, “You, stop! Stop explaining. I won’t listen! Mom is my favorite!” She stopped talking after shutting her sister up. She was still mad at the little sister.

 

Dog whisperer Dolito - Pets talk: I Take His Place

We feel heavyhearted whenever getting calls from people asking for bringing their pet consultation forward because their pets are severely sick. We all know this time will come. But when it does, it’s just hard to accept.

 

Didi the Golden Retriever was brought to Miss Dolito by his mom and sisters. He hadn’t been in good condition. Didi said to them, “Dad isn’t around. So I take his place. I look after you.”

The owners nodded with smiles. They didn’t know how Didi thought about them, but now they did.

“I’m happy that I take his place.” said Didi, “I’ve been living with you for so long.”

The family was so touched. Didi was always there for them. He was their sweetheart.

 

Didi said, “I don’t know how long I can stay with you. I’ve been pretending that I’m fine, but I actually feel very unwell.”

 

The mother patted Didi gently. They were sad to know that Didi was pretending to be healthy and happy just in order not to worry them.

Didi then said, “I have to be strong!”

 

Because he took the responsibility of a father, Didi felt the need to be tough and to protect his family. Well, he did it.

He said, “I’m losing appetite now. I don’t know when I’ll be unable to eat. When that happens, it’ll be my time to leave.” The sisters’ eyes were filled with tears on hearing that.

 

 

Didi said to the sisters, “You were both not married yet. I thought I could make it to see you get married. But that’s not gonna happen.” They cried and encouraged Didi to have a little hope at least. And Didi said to them, “Don’t cry. You look ugly when you cry.” They finally smiled.

 

Didi said to his mom, “You’re still working.” then to the sisters, “Mom works so hard, and you two are just like little princesses. You need to grow up. You have to help your mom with the households. Don’t just sit there and do nothing.” The mother petted Didi and was happy about his support. The two sisters immediately nodded and promised they would help sharing their mother’s burden.

 

He said to one of the sisters, “You got this boyfriend so early that I was worried about you being played at first. But then I find that he is a nice person, and that he’s been tolerant of your deeds. Now I’m not worried anymore.”

Everyone laughed. Didi managed to make them feel less sad. He’s really a great pet. A great family member.

 

Didi said, “Take care of yourself.” then added, “Just don’t let me feel painful. The pain has started.” The mother nodded. Now they knew how Didi felt, they knew what to do to help him ease the pain.

 

Didi said to his mom, “You can think about retiring now.” He was also concerned about mom’s health. He said to the sisters, “You have the responsibility to take care of Mom. You should take care of her till her last breath.” They told Didi not to worry, and that they would definitely do that.

 

We hope all the pet owners can make the most of the time they spend with their pets together. When one of them has to leave, at least there will be no regrets.

Dog whisperer Dolito - Pets talk: Smile!

Even if our pets’ bone ashes were placed in the memorial pagoda, even if they rest here, sometimes, they would go home to see if everything is okay. It’s because they’re still concerned about their families. God would guide and guard them on the way. And because they’ve been staying with God, they’ve got power to bless their families. If they find their owners aren’t doing well, they’d help.

This Dutch Rabbit’s name is Tu-Pi. He is now resting in out memorial pagoda in Kaohsiung. His owner brings him tasty fruits whenever she comes visit him, and he’d be thrilled.

 

Tu-Pi said to his owner, “You’ve been a little upset lately.”

 

The owner remained quiet with a bitter smile. We could tell there really was something bothering her.

Tu-Pi said, “You should be happy. Don’t be sad. Be happy! Smile!”

She nodded and told him that she’d try.

 

Tu-Pi seemed to know what it was that bothered his owner. He said, “Something’s wrong with your work. I’ll bless you!”

 

Hopefully with Tu-Pi’s blessing, the girl could make it through. We wish her the best of luck!

 

Dog whisperer Dolito - Pets talks: They Look Like Idiots

Yuan-Yuan the Schnauzer and two Shiba Inus (I don’t know their names because they just came here to listen to Yuan-Yuan) were taken to Miss Dolito.

 

Yuan-Yuan said, “I’m the eldest. Also the most well-behaved. I’m their leader.”

At he very beginning of his ‘speech’, Yuan-Yuan claimed that he was the eldest. Maybe it was to shut the other two up? Because big brother was talking! No one was allowed to interfere.

 

Yuan-Yuan then said, “I have another owner. He’s the one that’s taking care of me, but he isn’t here.”

 

Yuan-Yuan hoped that owner could some so that he could talk to him, but he also knew the reason why he couldn’t join them.

“He’s sick. I’m worried about him.” said Yuan-Yuan.

 

We all hoped Yuan-Yuan’s owner could get better. Health was one of the most important things in life after all.

 

In the end, Yuan-Yuan said something that he might think it would be a good ending.

He referred to the two Shiba Inus, and said, “They look like idiots.”

Dog whisperer Dolito - Pets talk: That’s Embarrassing

The two kittens (Teddy and Don-Don) are growing up. They can be called cats instead of kittens now.

 

Today I took my smartphone to visit them. I wanted to take some pictures. Teddy found my intention and said quickly, “Grandma! Take close-up pictures of us. Avoid the rest of the room!”

I asked him, “Why?”

 

Teddy’s reaction was very cute. He said, “Because it’s a mess! You can’t take pictures of this. Not before it’s cleaned up.”

 

In fact, whenever I try to take pictures of them, Teddy would hear his mommy, Renee, say this. She always says, “Just take some close-up pictures of the two. Don’t include the room in the pics. It’s a mess. That’d be embarrassing!”

 

Now Teddy has learned that.

Dog whisperer Dolito~ Pets talk: Nobody Dislikes Me

Nani the Shiba Inu was a very cute girl. She sat there quietly, eyes following my camera everywhere. She knew I was taking pictures of her and she was very comfortable with that.

The owner raised Nani somewhere outside. She was planning to bring her home and to introduce her to the family. Before that, she got the chance to take Nani to Miss Dolito, to see what Nani thought.

 

Nani said to her owner, “You often play with me.“ The owner nodded. But what Nani said next was kinda confusing. She said, “Sometimes I thought you’re serious.”

 

We looked at the owner, expecting for some explanation.

 

The owner thought for a while. It seemed that she finally thought of something. She smiled a bit awkwardly and said, “Sometimes my way of playing with her is pretending that I’m going to hit her or something. I scare her intentionally. But I’m just playing. I’ll never hit her or do anything to hurt her.”

 

But apparently Nani did get scared sometimes. Nani said, “So sometimes I get angry.” The owner hugged Nani and said she’d play some normal games if she didn’t like the original ones.

 

 

Nani then turned to her owner’s friend and said, “You don’t like dogs. Not very much.”

 

The girl was surprised but confused at the same time. She said, “Why’d you say that? I like dogs.” She stared at Nani, waiting for a reply.

 

Nani said to her, “You never fed me.”

 

They laughed. The friend thought Nani’s owner feeding her was enough. But Nani saw things in a different way. We were happy that Nani’s misunderstanding could be fixed that day.

 

Nani said to her, like a reminder, “Next time, don’t forget to feed me something!”

 

 

The owner talked about her plan to take Nani home. But she was also worried about her family’s reaction. She wasn’t sure if her family was going to accept Nani as their new family member.

 

Nani smiled and said, “They will accept me. I’m one hundred percent sure. Nobody dislikes me.”

Nani’s confidence also encouraged her owner.

 

Finally, the owner asked Nani, “Am I nice to those stray dogs?” It seemed she was raising other dogs besides Nani. Nani agreed, “Very. You have a big heart.” She smiled, and then asked, “Will you get jealous?” Nani said, “No.”

 

Because those stray dogs really needed her kindness. Nani knew that. She appreciates her owner’s love, and also hoped more stray animals could be helped.

Dog Whisperer Dolito~ Pets talk: Stop using the computer!

I went to Renee’s room to visit the kittens.

The moment I opened the door, I saw Teddy lying on her keyboard.

I looked at him. He looked back at me.

Teddy said, “I won’t let Mommy use the computer!”

I asked him, “Why?”

He said, “Once she starts using it, she’ll forget about us.”

Even a little kitten knew that his mom would ignore him if she was on the computer!

Dog whisperer Dolito- I'm here!

Today I saw an article talking about how we can be blinded by our perception. Sometimes we believe in one thing and our confidence is so high that we can’t see the truth is actually different from what we think it should be.

This short story can be an example, and it’s a cute one.

One morning, Miss Dolito went into Renee’s room to see Teddy as she always did.

She saw him immediately after she came in. She hugged him and kissed him, and she could barely let go of him.

But there was a voice coming from behind her feet, saying, “I’m here! I’m here! I am Teddy! He’s not!”

Miss Dolito looked at the kitten in her hands with surprise, and then looked at Teddy, and then back at the kitten again. She had been convinced that the only kitten in Renee’s room was Teddy. But the truth was there was another kitten. Who was he by the way?

Renee, who was still lying on her bed, noticed that her mother was confused. She said, “He’s Don-Don. I brought him back just lately.”

Miss Dolito was totally without words. . .

Dog whisperer Dolito- pets talk: confidence

Miss Dolito’s family decided to have all Chocolate’s fur trimmed. He was likely to have some skin disease but they couldn’t see clearly what that was because of his fur — now he hardly have any.

They were afraid that Chocolate would depreciate himself for not looking as handsome as usual. But Chocolate seemed to take it well.

Renee was so curious about how Chocolate felt that she said, like a reminder, “Chocolate, your furs are gone.”

Chocolate said, “Yep! I look great. I look great without furs!”

Renee asked, “Won’t you feel strange that you don’t have any fur?”

Chocolate replied, “No! I like it! My head is lighter now; it used to heavier. Plus I don’t have to shake my head after drinking water; my face won’t get wet without fur!”

Renee asked jokingly, “Do you wanna look in the mirror and see how you look now?”
Chocolate asked, “What is MIRROR?”

They just found out the fact that Chocolate had never looked at himself in the mirror. How did he know if he’s handsome or not? He really was full of confidence!

Dog whisperer Dolito- Pets talk: We Will Bless You

It’s been a while since I last shared stories of our little angels in the memorial pagoda. So here’s one: this cute dog, Tien-Tien (transliteration of 甜甜, meaning ‘sweet’) was a hybrid from Maltese, Yorkshire Terrier and one or two other breeds. She’s been in our memorial pagoda for a long time.

Last year, her child, Wang-Wang (transliteration of 旺旺) passed away and their mom bought the ‘cube’ next to Tien-Tien’s, so that Wang-Wang could stay with his mother.

This is the picture of Wang-Wang:

Tien-Tien said, “We’re together again, finally! I’m happy. Thank you, Mom!”

The owner nodded. Tien-Tien went on, “You took good care of us when we were alive. Now even when we’re dead, you still take great care of us. I’m really appreciative!”

She said, “Mom. Wang-Wang and I will bless you!”

The owner asked them, “How do you feel now?” They seemed to die of disease. The owner was worried that their souls still felt painful. But Tien-Tien comforted her.

“We’re both fine. Mom. Take care of yourself.” said Tien-Tien. “I hope you can visit us often. We’ll behave ourselves. Don’t worry about us!”

Tien-Tien was really sweet. Thanks to Miss Dolito, they could still feel together even when they were worlds apart. And thank God for giving Miss Dolito this special gift to help.
 

Dog whisperer Dolito- Pets talk: I’ve Warned You

Wang-Fu the Shiba Inu had been to our charitable weekend trip once before this conversation took place. His sister took part in another charitable activity and saw Miss Dolito. The sister told Miss Dolito that Wang-Fu went missing a week ago and was found later. She was so curious about where Wang-Fu went.

Wang-Fu saw Miss Dolito and said immediately, “I know her. I’ve talked to Miss Dolito before.” The sister asked him where he was when everybody was looking for him. He said, kinda innocently, “I wanna go out to play, but I didn’t know how to go back.” He almost scared his sister to death. Thank God he was found.

“Dad and Mom are too slow. I have to wait for them every time we walk together. I’m not that patient.” said Wang-Fu. Then he changed subject, saying to his sister, “You and your husband are separate.”

Wang-Fu’s sister laughed. She said, “Because we work in different cities. We have to live in different places. But we’re good.” She thought there was nothing to be worried about, but Wang-Fu didn’t think so. Wang-Fu asked, “Will you get a divorce?” “What? No! Wang-Fu, we’ve only been married for six months!” shouted out the sister.

Wang-Fu was still worried. He said, “This is not good. You should live together.”

His sister smiled and asked him, “But what about my job?”

Wang-Fu didn’t answer her. He said, “Your husband is a public servant. He has a stable job. You have to watch out.” “For what?” asked the sister, really confused.

Wang-Fu explained, “A man who has a stable job and doesn’t live with his wife tends to make out with other women. This happens all the time in Korean soap operas.”

The sister couldn’t stop laughing. Maybe she shouldn’t watch TV shows that weren’t like Animal Planet when Wang-Fu was around. Yet this conversation wasn’t over for Wang-Fu. He said, “Your salary isn’t good enough anyway. Why don’t you just quit and stay with him?”

Well, Wang-Fu’s sister seemed to have much confidence in her husband. So she wasn’t going to quit her job only for fear that her husband might cheat on her.
“Anyway. I’ve warned you! Don’t say I didn’t tell you so if anything happens.” said Wang-Fu, who really started to scare his sister. But hopefully nothing would happen.

 

Dog whisperer Dolito- Pets talk: He’s Watching Over You

When an owner takes more than one pet to Miss Dolito, chances are that only one of them will talk. That pet is the ‘boss’ among all the pets and others will just watch and listen to him/her.
Last year a family took their lovely cats to our charitable weekend trip. Three cats. But only one of them talked. Won-Lien was the oldest cat in their family; she refused to go out of her carrier so we all crouched on the floor to keep an eye contact with her.

Won-Lien said, “Some people died in our family. Few in a row.”
The mother nodded and told us that was few years ago. There was a time when their relatives died one by one, and then her husband, too. That was sad. And for the record, they met Won-Lien on the funeral.

Won-Lien said, “I saw him. The dead man is still in our house; I can still see him.” I thought the mother would feel surprised, but I was wrong. She smiled and said, “No wonder!”
“It has been years since my husband died. But I keep dreaming of him. In those dreams he still lives with us as if he never left.” said the mother.

Won-Lien said, “He’s watching over you. And he will always be there.” The mother’s eyes were filled with tears of joy.

Then Won-Lien said to the only boy in the room, “You’re the big brother.” They said the boy was the youngest child in the family. But to Won-Lien, he was the ‘big brother.’ Won-Lien went on, “You need to study hard. You don’t do it hard enough. And you have to be responsible.”
One of the sisters asked, “He’s young. Isn’t it too early to talk about this?”

Won-Lien said to the brother, “You’re the most irresponsible one in the family. You’re spoiled. You need to grow up.” Her words made perfect senses. I didn’t think it was too early at all. It would be too late if they tell him to be responsible after he graduated from school.

Won-Lien said, “You have to be able to protect your mother and sisters, or the dead man would be worried.” The boy nodded. He could also consider it the will of his father.

Then Won-Lien said to everyone except the mother, “All of you are students. You have to study hard. I think you’re all slack.” Everyone laughed. I wasn’t sure if Won-Lien was right. Won-Lien sounded like a gentle mother, “Stop slacking off in your studies.”

                                               
Won-Lien said to one of the girls, “You have a boyfriend.” They laughed again. That girl was actually the girlfriend of the young boy.

Won-Lien said to another girl, “You also have a secret boyfriend.” The family laughed even harder. That was totally not a secret. It was just that she never brought her boyfriend home so Won-Lien never had the chance to see him.

Won-Lien said to her sister, “You have my blessing.” But then she said, “But be careful. Don’t be fooled. It will be too late to regret anything if bad things happen.” She hadn’t met the guy, so she was worried about what kind of a person he would be. “You need to control your temper as well. You can’t expect others to treat you like a princess.” The sister smiled and nodded.

Finally, Won-Lien said to the children, “Do not talk back to your mother. Be obedient and respectful to her, okay? “

They all nodded immediately. I could see they’re a harmonious family. The mother was deeply touched by Won-Lien’s words, so were Miss Dolito and I.

Pets talk: Bones

Many people have the concept which relates dogs to bones. People who haven’t fed a dog before, especially elder people, tend to believe that it’s a common fact that dogs eat bones. Is that right? Well, you may wanna take a look at this story.

Q-si was a good-looking (kinda handsome, don’t you think?) girl. She was strong but gentle. She was nervous when she first came to Miss Dolito’s pet hotel and couldn’t sit down, but still wore a cute smile on her face all the time.
Her sisters explained to us that usually she was healthy, but sometimes Q-si lost her appetite and looked a bit sick. But the vet said she should be fine; there was no problem with her health. So they were very confused and concerned about Q-si.

We waited for Q-si to start talking. After a while, she finally calmed down and said to one of the sisters, “The guy who took care of me together with you. I wanna see him again.”

Q-si was a stray dog. The sister and her friend found her in their school, and took care of her together. When they were about to graduate, they decided to take Q-si home. Her friend wasn’t allowed to have a pet, so Q-si was taken to her present home.

Q-si said, “He often took me out to play.” It seemed that she really missed him. The sister looked a bit awkward and said that they actually had lost contact for years. But for the sake of Q-si, she would try to reach him.

Q-si said to her owners, “I was lucky to have you as family. I’m so happy!”

Since Q-si was in “talking mode” the family could start to ask questions. (You wouldn’t get any answer if the pets didn’t want to talk, of course.) They immediately asked about her health.

Q-si said, “I’m healthy.”

The family nodded with smiles, but asked, “Then why do you look sick sometimes?”

“I lose appetite sometimes. It’s because of my stomach.” answered Q-si. The family still looked confused. If there was something wrong with her stomach, how was she healthy?

Here’s the fact: Q-si’s stomach ache wasn’t caused by illness.

Q-si explained, “Bones. I eat bones, and then I feel uncomfortable.”

The family was very surprised. But after a moment of looking back, they found that Q-si did become sick whenever she ate bones. It was just that they never connected the two things together.
So, about the question that had been bothering the sisters for so long, Q-si said, “It was because of the bones.”

(Just think about it. Dogs usually don’t chew their food with patience. Most of them don’t make sure that the thing they swallow won’t hurt their stomach. So why do people think they would be careful when eating a bone?)

Q-si’s mom frowned and asked, “If she feels uncomfortable every time she eats bones, then why does she still eat it? It’s like one of her favorite food!”
